Interlibrary Loan (ILL) obtains materials such as books, cds, dvds or articles from the collections of other libraries when the North Dakota State Library does not own those items. These requests are then picked up by local patrons or mailed to patrons who live outside the Bismarck/Mandan service area.
NDSL has reciprocal agreements from libraries within the state and throughout the country that allows the library to expand the amount of items they can offer patrons.
Generally, there is no fee for obtaining an item through interlibrary loan except return postage. If a fee does occur, NDSL will notify you and secure your permission before ordering the item.
Please feel free to call if you have questions about Interlibrary Loan, copyright or statewide statistics within the state of North Dakota.
The Interlibrary Loan department is available to provide training for interlibrary loan and Aleph. Contact Shari Mosser at ssandwick@nd.gov or 702-328-3252 for more information or to schedule a training.
