The Public Awareness Coordinator at the North Dakota State Library has the responsibility of promoting libraries and library services throughout North Dakota.
In addition to promoting the State Library services, the Public Awareness Coordinator assists libraries throughout the state with promotion of their local programs and services. The Public Awareness Coordinator helps coordinate North Dakota State Library events, produces State Library promotional materials, serves as the North Dakota representative to the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), manages State Library booth appearances, and serves as the State Library website administrator.
If you would like assistance with public awareness at your library, please contact Adam Emter at 800-472-2104 or ndslpa@nd.gov.
The Public Awareness Coordinator at the North Dakota State Library serves as the North Dakota state representative to the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). CSLP is a consortium of all 50 states working to provide high-quality summer reading materials at the lowest cost possible for public libraries. The Public Awareness Coordinator represents all North Dakota public libraries through ongoing communication, committee work, and by attending the annual CSLP national conference as a voting member. Every year, CSLP publishes a multi-themed summer reading manual, which contains valuable information for planning, promoting, and hosting a successful summer reading program.
For 2012, the North Dakota State Library will provide one free summer reading manual to each public library in the state, but it must be requested. Request your summer reading manual here! Also in 2012, CSLP is again paying for shipping costs on summer reading items ordered through the Upstart incentive catalog, which you will receive with your manual.

Friday, June 1, 2012 has been set as “Summer Reading Kickoff Day @ Your Library”. All libraries planning to host a kickoff event are encouraged to host it on Summer Reading Kickoff Day. A summer reading kickoff event is a great way to attract community and media attention to your library!
If you have any questions about summer reading programs in North Dakota, please contact Adam Emter at 701-328-4656 or ndslpa@nd.gov.
Every year, the North Dakota State Library showcases library services at conventions, conferences, and trade shows throughout North Dakota. State Library staff use these booths as an opportunity to inform North Dakotans about services of the State Library and other North Dakota libraries. Some of the places that you might see a North Dakota State Library booth include the North Dakota State Fair, the KFYR Agri International Trade Show, the North Dakota Homeschool Association Conference, the KMOT Ag Expo, the North Dakota Education Association Conference, and the North Dakota Library Association Conference.
