The North Dakota State Library is offering free web based trainings that you can take from your computer. These trainings are live and interactive. You may ask questions and we have the ability to allow hands-on practice as well. In order to participate in the webinars, you will need both a telephone and a computer with internet access.

Ancestry Library Edition Overview
Are you familiar with Ancestry Library Edition yet?  ProQuest has partnered with MyFamily.com to create Ancestry® Library Edition.  It has unparalleled coverage of the United States and the United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records, as well as record collections from Canada and other areas.  This webinar will focus on basic and advanced search techniques that you can show your patrons, and will cover topics such as content found within Ancestry Library edition, accessing different databases within Ancestry Library Edition, installing the enhanced image viewer, and examining the different charts and forms available for printing. LearningExpress Library
Are your patrons looking for help updating their resumes? Would your students benefit from taking a practice test for the ACT or other skill improvement tests? LearningExpress Library is a database of practice tests, skill building, electronic review books, and test preparation guides. There are online learning centers for improvement for math, reading comprehension, writing and grammar, and vocabulary and spelling that span from elementary grades to college level. There are also college preparation courses, with practice tests and tutorial lessons for the SAT, ACT, and others, including graduate school entrance exams such as the GRE, MCAT, and LSAT. Are you familiar with WorldCat.org and WorldCat FirstSearch?  WorldCat is the world's largest network of library content and services. WorldCat libraries are dedicated to providing access to their resources on the Web, where most people start their search for information.  You can search for books, magazines, journals, music CDs, audio books, DVDs/videos and a lot more by searching WorldCat.  This webinar will explore both WorldCat.org and WorldCat FirstSearch.  We’ll also show you how to use your search results to submit interlibrary loans quickly. 2010 Spring Workshops2010 Spring Workshops Logo

The State Library has a great lineup of workshops including technology workshops in both locations. Topics for this year’s workshops include: developing a Friends of the Library group, utilizing social media tools, and summer reading programs. Round table discussions on various library related topics will again be a part of the workshops. Technology workshops will feature representatives from EBSCO, Gale, and the State Library who will demonstrate and explain some of the new Online Library Resources. A new program being added this year is a panel discussion by community leaders. The discussion will give valuable ideas about increasing the library’s role in your community.

The State Library encourages carpooling to and from the lab locations, especially for those attending sessions at the Fargo Public Library, as parking is limited.
