However, other eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts and retinitis pigmentosa can steal a person's ability to read standard print. In addition, many physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, stroke, severe arthritis, dyslexia, AIDS and brain injuries prohibit individuals from holding a book or newspaper, or comprehending the printed word.
