Collection Development Using an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Lens

The instructor will lead a course on the importance of developing library collections, especially public library collections, while incorporating a lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion. In addition to curated resources, best practices, and guided activities, learners will participate in two synchronous sessions, where they will have the opportunity to participate in a conversation with a current collection development manager of a large California public library system and an author/librarian whose book was banned.

This three-week course (October 1-21, 2024) will include two interactive online sessions:

• Tuesday, October 8th 2:30-3:30pm CST
• Tuesday, October 15th 2:30-3:30pm CST
• Time Required: 2½ hours per week, with options for further study and application. Participants can work on each module at their own pace, at any hour of the day or night. However, it is recommended that participants complete each week's assignments within that week to stay in sync with other learners.
