Libraries’ Role in Broadband in North Dakota

The role libraries will play in broadband expansion as community anchor institutions is helping close the digital equity gap. Libraries can provide access to computers to those residents who need to apply for a job, file taxes, apply for Medicaid or Medicare, or access professional development or job training resources but do not have their own computer.  Libraries can other services such as printing, faxing, and sometimes notary services if needed. Providing the access to broadband to libraries gives your patrons access a strong wireless signal to fill out job applications, apply for Medicaid or Medicare, file unemployment claims or engage in training or continuing education opportunities on their laptops or tablets. All of these services are helping close the digital equity gap.
